On Saturday, 27th June 2015 thousands of people took part in Darlington Carnival. The theme of this year’s carnival was “International” and among the highlights of the annual event was the traditional parade between the town centre and Stanhope Park.

Other attractions included stalls, games and dance performances, while youngsters also had the chance to meet “Frozen” stars Anna, Kristoff and Olaf from the popular Disney musical. For those who wished for a musical afternoon there was a stage where Polish band Pod Schodami and local bands Willowcreek, Legal Sinners, Roads & Ruins, Occasionally Ben and The Lagoons performed for an enthusiastic audience. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Mayor’s charity fund. At the end of the mayoral year the money will be shared among local charities and causes.

“This year's carnival had an 'International' theme and it was obvious that we as a Polish community will take part.
We have prepared a lot of information about Poland, brochures, leaflets, promotional items, quiz with prizes and activities for kids. It was a fantastic day for whole community to get together and enjoy a day of free family entertainment.

I would like to say thank you to our special guest The Consul General of the Republic of Poland Lukasz Lutostanski for accepting our invitation. Our stalls were very popular during the Carnival and we have had some fantastic feedback. I hope people learnt a little bit more about Poland. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Head of International Relations Office from Opole Janusz Karpinski and Mayor of Niepolomice Roman Ptak for support. Massive thank you to Ola Szlas, childminder from Happy Bumble Bees, Marzena Chmielewska (Beaty Paradise), Anna Plackowska (Your Hairdresser) and volunteers: Dominika and Marta. I have heard nothing but praises from all who visited our stalls. I think both stall holders and members of the public agreed that it was another fantastic turnout with lots of money raised for many good causes.” – said Polish Representative Lukasz Samek
