We would like to say a huge congratulations to Lukasz Samek from Darlington, who was presented with the “Young Pole” award at the “Outstanding Pole in England, Wales and Northern Ireland” Awards Ceremony 2015.

Lukasz attended the wonderful ceremony which was held at The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum, in London.

The Outstanding Pole contest has been recognising Poles, in various countries, for six years now. The first UK edition was organised by the Polish City Club and the purpose of the contest is to showcase Poles living in the UK and their achievements and also highlight and promote people whose successes are based outside the Poland.

Lukasz loves travelling and came to England in 2005 and move to Darlington with his wife Dominika. He has always been interested in learning about new cultures, people and languages so was soon involved in different community events within the town. Achieving a degree in Business Administration in Poland allowed Lukasz to use his skills and knowledge professionally in his role at HC-One.

Lukasz was awarded the title of “Young Pole” due to his many fantastic achievements. As well as working at HC-ONE, Lukasz is a director of the Middlesbrough Futsal Club. He is also an active member of the Darlington Round Table, the Arthur Wharton Foundation as well as being Vice Chairman of Darlington Town Twinning & International Association.

Lukasz enjoys journalism and is a keen author, he enjoys writing pieces on a current events and history and has written many articles that have been published in various press. He has also been an editor for the Polish column in The Northern Echo and featured in radio programmes for BBC Radio Tees as well as being greatly involved in charity work and promotion of the Polish culture.
We would like to say well done to Lukasz. We are very proud of this amazing and truly deserved achievement!

Congratulations Lukasz!
